Our Vision & Mission
When someone dies by suicide, the loved ones left behind often must deal with an array of their own emotions. It can be difficult to discuss with people who have not had the same experience. Some people feel that they are not able to share their feelings or story due to stigma or suicide being a taboo topic.
This support group is a safe
supporting space to share your grief, and support others.
Group guildelines
- Mobile Phones to be turned onto silent
- Group members may choice to remain anonymous or share first name only,
- Everything that is shared during a meeting is confidential to the group,
- Exceptions to confidentiality are duty of care or mandatory reporting requirements if a member is at risk of harming themselves or others being harmed if someone discloses,
- Every person in the group can participate in discussion and to share their own problems issues and ideas,
- Group members may leave the room at any time,
- Group members should not engage in side conversations during the group session,
- People attending the group are to be free from alcohol and illicit drugs,
- Boundaries around personal sharing is encouraged to ensure the emotional safety of self and others,
- Individual personal physical boundaries,
- Respect and equal participation – No advice giving or interrupting,
- The focus of the meetings is to listen, & to feel like they are being heard and understood while sharing strategies rather than therapies,
- Everyone has the opportunity to participate in discussion safely and equally,
- We all have a right & responsibility to share our issues and ideas in a respectful way whilst being treated with dignity,
- We aim for equal listening time,
- There’s no obligation to speak you can say “pass“.
