About Us
"We Listen"

Congrats on your Nomination for the We Listen Committee in the Victorian 2025 Volunteer Awards!
Our Impact
The impact we have made in our community
When someone dies by suicide, the loved ones left behind often must deal with an array of their own emotions. It can be difficult to discuss with people who have not had the same experience. Some people feel that they are not able to share their feelings or story due to stigma or suicide being a taboo topic. This support group is a supportive space to share your grief, and support others.
A Brave Space for those who
have lost someone to taking
their own lives.
A Facilitated Peer Support
Group. A chance to share your
story and meet others in a
similar situation.

We are a compassionate community group dedicated to supporting those who have lost loved ones to suicide. We understand the unique and complex grief that follows such a loss, and we’re here to provide a safe, stigma-free space where you can share your story, connect with others, and find solace. Our facilitated peer support groups offer a brave space to express your emotions and begin healing alongside those who truly understand.
At We Listen, we believe no one should grieve alone. As a not-for-profit, we rely on donations to sustain our free or low-cost support groups, ensuring everyone has access to the care they need. Whether you’re ready to join a group, seek resources, or simply learn more, we’re here for you. Contact Steve at 0400 314 858 or [email protected] to take the first step toward healing. Together, we listen, we support, and we heal.
Awareness
Recognise the signs — in yourself and others — because noticing is the first step toward hope and healing.
Talk
Open up and share your story — talking reduces isolation and builds connection when you need it most.
Educate
Learn the facts about mental health and suicide — knowledge empowers us to support each other and break down stigma.
Stop
Pause the spiral — interrupt harmful thought patterns before they take hold and regain control in the moment.
Think
Reflect honestly — acknowledge what you're truly feeling without judgment to understand yourself better.
Act
Take meaningful steps — reach out for support, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and choose actions that move you toward recovery and strength.
